Sony officially announced its VAIO X series, the world’s lightest notebook PC that has been previewed at the IFA 2009. The VAIO X, like the newly announced VAIO L, runs the latest Windows 7 OS. As the lightest notebook, the X weight just 1.6lbs (0.73kg) with standard battery.

Dell adds to its Inspiron line the new 11.6-inch Inspiron 11z CULV notebook. This “newest thin and light” notebook weighs 1.385kg (3.05lbs) and is as thin as 1-inch. Boosted by Intel’s Celeron 723 1.2 CULV processor, the Inspiron 11z has 2GB of DDR2 memory, integrated Intel GS45 graphics and a 250GB hard drive.
