Pioneer introduces a new BPD-150 3D Blu-ray player, which according to the company is tailored to smartphone users and “deliver highest quality reproduction of their smartphone content”. The player, follow-up to the BDP-140, supports 3D Blu-ray playback and is network-enabled. It has Ethernet port for wired connection and can connect to wireless network using the optional Pioneer AS-WL300 WiFi adapter. With network connectivity, users can access YouTube video and Picasa photo albums, even stream media content from Mac/Windows computer or media server in the same network.

Sony BDP-S390

Sony launches two new WiFi-capable Blu-ray players, the BDP-S390 and BDP-S590. Like their brother BDP-S790, they have integrated support for WiFi connectivity for access to Sony Entertainment Network for streaming online movies,TV shows and videos from Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, Hulu Plus…etc. Both models support Full HD 1080p Blu-ray playback and the S590 adds Blu-ray 3D support and 2D to 3D conversion.

Samsung’s new BD-ES6000, announced at the CES 2012, is a compact Blu-ray player boasting a slightly larger-than-a-disc form factor. The compact player supports 3D Blu-ray and full HD 1080p playback. It can also upscale your content to show on your HDTV and supports Dolby Digital TrueHD and DTS-HD audio codec. Other than the BDP-140, Pioneer has two new Elite-brand 3D Blu-ray players, the BDP-52FD and BDP-53FD with support for 3D Blu-ray and network capability. The new Elite players are fully 3D compatible supporting 3D Blu-ray player and comes with HDMI 1.4a with support for x.v. Color, Deep Color and 3D. Samsung is launching its 2011 line of Blu-ray players and the company has just announced the pricing of these new players. The 2011 models include the slimmest BD-D7500, the ultra compact BD-D7000, the WiFi-enabled BD-D6700 and BD-D6500 as well as BD-D5700, BD-D5500, and BD-D5300.

LG BD670

In addition to the flagship BD690 with 250GB hard drive, LG brings four other network Blu-ray players, the BD670, BD650, BD640 and BD630. They all support 1080p Full HD playback and DVD 1080p upscaling. The BD670 and BD650 can also handle 3D Blu-ray playback. These players are network-capable offer access to online content and services.

LG announced at the CES 2011 the BD690m a 3D Blu-ray Disc player with an integrated 250GB hard drive for users to store their media files. The BD690 comes with built-in WiFi connectivity for online content access and is said to have WiFi Direct cerfitication that allows wireless communication between WiFi devices.
