Olympus launches in Europe the affordable digital camera, the VG-170 featuring the “best-in-class flash”. Like its little brother VG-160, the VG-170 features 14 Megapixel image sensor, a 26mm wide angle 5x optical zoom lens and a 3-inch LCD display. The camera comes with a powerful flash, which is able to light up faces and objects up to fully 15 meters away, and provides the Long Flash Mode that will automatically adjust ISO sensitivity to make sure your camera is set up just right for low light.

Samsung PL20

Samsung is bringing two new compact point-and-shoot digital camera, the 14 Megapixel PL20 and the 12 Megapixel ES80. Both of them have a 5x optical zoom Samsung lens with 27mm wide angle and Digital Image Stabilization.

Other than the F/1.8 TL500, Samsung brings also the high-speed compact TL350 camera to the PMA 2010. The TL350 features a maximum video recording speed of 1,000 frames-per-second (fps) (in 138×78 resolution) and a burst mode capable of capturing 10 full-size digital stills per second.

Samsung AQ100

Samsung introduces two new point-and-shoot digital cameras, the waterproof AQ100 and the durable SL605, successor of the SL600. Both cams have 12 Megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom Samsung lens and a 2.7-inch LCD display.

In addition to SL630, HZ35W and HZ30W, Samsung unveils also the ultra slim TL110 and TL105 digital cameras. The former is a 14.2 Megapixel camera with 5x optical zoom and 27mm wide-angle while the latter is a 12.2 Megapixel camera with 4x optical zoom and 27.5mm wide-angle. They both have 2.7-inch LCD display.

Samsung adds two new stylish compact digital cameras to its SL series. The 12.2 Megapixel SL600 and 10.2 Megapixel SL50 both feature a 27mm wide-angle Samsung lens with 5x optical zoom, digital image stabilization, Smart Auto mode and Samsung’s Perfect Portrait System.

Canon updates its flagship PowerShot G series with the new PowerShot G11 digital camera, a pocket-sized camera with SLR functionality. The G11 gets the tilt and swivel LCD back, since Canon cuts that since PowerShot G7.

AgfaPhoto introduces three new digital cameras, the Optima 1, Optima 102 and Optima 100 at the IFA 2009. To be released in September, these cameras all have a slim design.

In addition to the slimline TX1, Sony brings also the Cyber-shot DSC-WX1 compact point-and-shoot camera. Like the TX1, the WX1 packs Sony’s Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor with 10.2 Megapixel resolution. It has a 5x zoom Sony G lens with 24mm wide angle, and a 2.7-inch LCD display.
