Canon updates its flagship PowerShot G series with the new PowerShot G11 digital camera, a pocket-sized camera with SLR functionality. The G11 gets the tilt and swivel LCD back, since Canon cuts that since PowerShot G7.

AgfaPhoto introduces three new digital cameras, the Optima 1, Optima 102 and Optima 100 at the IFA 2009. To be released in September, these cameras all have a slim design.

In addition to the slimline TX1, Sony brings also the Cyber-shot DSC-WX1 compact point-and-shoot camera. Like the TX1, the WX1 packs Sony’s Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor with 10.2 Megapixel resolution. It has a 5x zoom Sony G lens with 24mm wide angle, and a 2.7-inch LCD display.

Along with S570, Nikon has another new compact camera, the CoolPix S640 IS that offers similar features. The S640 IS serves as the successor to the CoolPix S620 and S630.

Nikon announced the replacement to the S560, the CoolPix S570 digital camera with a slim, stylish design at less than 1-inch thick. It has a 12 Megapixel imaging sensor and a 5x Wide-angle Zoom-NIKKOR Glass Lens.

Kodak will launch in September two new M-series digital cameras, the EasyShare M381 and the EasyShare M341. Both of them are compact 12 Megapixel cameras with a sleek form.

Olympus FE-5020 Digital Camera

Olympus adds to its FE-series three new models, including FE-5020, FE-4000 and FE-46. All these cameras are budget-priced. They all feature the Magic Filters that allows users to enhance and customize their photos by applying filter effects such as Pop Art, Pinhole, FishEye or Wedding.

Samsung presents the SL720 (aka PL70) and SL502 (aka PL55) entry-level digital cameras. These cameras have 12.2 Megapixel image sensor and 5x optical zoom lens.

The Samsung SL720 features 28mm wide angle, a 3-inch LCD display, ability to record 720p HD video in H.264 format and optical and digital dual image stabilization. The SL502, instead, has a 35mm lens, a 2.7-inch display, and 640×480 video recording.

Samsung launches its new WB1000 (aka TL320) digital camera that comes with two retro-style gauges showing battery level and capacity. The WB1000 has 12.2 Megapixel image sensor, and a Schneider-KREUZNACH lens with 5x zoom and 24mm wide angle.

Samsung announced the new TL320 and HZ15W 12 Megapixel compact digital cameras. Both cameras have a 12 Megapixel image sensor. The TL320 features a Schneider-KREUZNACH lens with 5x zoom and 24mm wide angle, while the HZ15W has a  Schneider Lens wih 10x optical zoom and 24mm wide angle.
