Along with the new V-Lux 40, Leica also brings the new X2 compact digital camera, which is the successor to the X1. Handmade at Leica’s headquarters in Germany, the X2 is equipped with a 16.2 Megapixel APS-C professional CMOC image sensor, and a fixed Leica Elmarit 24 mm f/2.8 ASPH. lens, “a classic focal length for photojournalism.” It comes with an enhanced autofocus system, offering precise, fast and almost silent  focusing.

Leica announced its new V-Lux 40 compact digital camera, which appears to be Leica’s version the Panasonic ZS20/TZ30. Like its predecessor, V-Lux 20 and V-Lux 30, the new V-Lux 40 is also a long-zoom camera. It sports a 14.1 Megapixel CMOS image sesnor and a Leica DC Vario-Elmar 4.3–86 mm f/3.3–6.4 ASPH with a 20x zoom range and 24mm wide angle.

Leica launches a new compact long zoom digital camera, the V-LUX 3 that is basically a re-badged Panasonic LUMIX FZ150, succeeding the V-LUX 2. Featuring a 12.1 Megapixel CMOS image sensor, the new camera does Full HD 1920×1080/60p video recording in AVCHD format. It is equipped with a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 4.5 – 108 mm f/2.8 – 5.2 ASPH. 24-fold super-telephoto zoom lens with 24x optical zoom (25–600 mm in 35 mm format).

In addition to the D-Lux 5 based on LX5, Leica brings also the V-Lux 2 24x ultra zoom digital camera which is rebranded from Panasonic FZ100. Leica has made some minor change to the design of the FZ100 and replaces the Panasonic and LUMIX branding with Leica.

Leica is going to release in October the X1 with an elegant black finish and a more coarsely-textured leather trim. The X1 Black offers same features as the original X1, featuring a 12.2 Megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor, all-purpose LEICA ELMARIT 24mm f/2.8 ASPH. lens, ISO up to 3200, analogue-style shutter speed and aperture dials, face detection and a 2.7-inch LCD display.

Leica announced the M9 Titanium, an exclusive special edition designed in collaboration with Walter de’Silva chieft designer of the Volkswagen Group, and his Audi Design Team. The Titanium M9 is constructed exclusively with premium quality materials such as solid titanium for camera body, hard coating on expose surfaces, and sapphire-crystal glass protective cover for camera monitor.

Following the D-Lux 3 and D-Lux 4, Leica announced the new D-Lux 5 digital camera that is based on Panasonic’s LX5, adding a more elegant Leica D-Lux style design. Like the LX5, this new D-Lux model sports a 10.1 Megapixel CCD sensor and a Leica DC Vario-Summicron 5.1–19.2 mm f/2–3.3 ASPH lens with 24mm wide angle and 3.8x optical zoom.

Leica officially announced the previously leaked V-Lux 20 compact digital camera, which is just a rebadged Panasonic Lumix ZS7/TZ10. The includes almost all features you found on the ZS7 and gets a more expensive price tag of US$699.
