Sony Ericsson announced at the CES 2011 its new Xperia arc, a new ultra slim smartphone running Android 2.3. The slim, sleek, lightweight phone has an ergonomic design and an arc body. It measures just 8.7mm at its thinnest part. This latest Xperia phone runs Android 2.3 OS and includes Google Mobile Services and apps.

At the CES 2011, HTC and Verizon Wireless announced the new ThunderBolt Android smartphone supporting Verizon’s LTE 4G mobile network to deliver high-speed data of up to 12Mbps download speed and up to 5Mbps uplink speed.

Alongside with Motorola’s ATRIX 4G, AT&T is going to release two more to work with its HSPA+ network.  One of them is the HTC Inspire 4G running Android 2.2 OS with HTC Sense UI (the other one is Samsung’s Infuse 4G). Like T-Mobile, AT&T now is calling its HSPA+ network as 4G network and this is the reason why the phone gets “4G” as part of its name.

The Inspire 4G ha a large 4.3-inch Super LCD capacitive touchscreen with 800×480 resolution, 8 Megapixel camera with  720p HD video recording, and 4GB internal storage.

In addition to CLIQ 2 for T-Mobile and ATRIX 4G for AT&T, Motorola also introduces the DROID BIONIC Android smartphone, joining Verizon’s DROID family. The phone is a real 4G phone supporting LTE 4G mobile network, in addition to CDMA EVDO and WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity.

Motorola announced at the CES 2011 the new CLIQ 2 with MOTOBLUR Android smartphone for T-Mobile, following the CLIQ and CLIQ XT. Powered by 1GHz processor, the phone gets 512MB of RAM and 1GB of ROM. It features a 3.7-inch 854×480 touchscreen and a side-slide “intelligently designed” QWERTY keyboard.

Motorolal introduces the “world’s most powerful smartphone”, the ATRIX 4G dual-core Android phone. The ATRIX 4G is boosted by a NVIDIA Tegra dual core processor with each core running at 1GHz and 1GB of RAM. It runs Android 2.2 with MOTOBLUR UI.

Huawei is going to announce its IDEOS X5 Andriod smartphone on 6 January at the CES 2011, and the phone will be released in Hong Kong on 13 January with a price tag of HK$3000 (US$386).

PhoneArena posted a few shots of the HTC EVO Shift 4G Android smartphone, which is believed to be released by Sprint in January. The phone, like the original EVO 4G, supports Sprint’s WiMAX 4G network. It has a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard.
