TrustedReviews has done a review on Panasonic HDC-SD100 AVCHD camcorder. HDC-SD100 features a 0.52 Megapixel 3MOS image sensoe, 12x optical zoom, 30x digital zoom, face detection, image stabilization and a 2.7-inch LCD display. It uses the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec. SD100 is a SD camcorder supporting up to 32GB of SDHC cards.

In previous camcorder eras, Panasonic has excelled at providing models with comprehensive features for the enthusiast. Its NV-GS400 was the last great ‘prosumer’ DV model. Until the HDC-SD100 arrived, no manufacturer had combined AVCHD with quite that level of professional features. Canon’s HF10 and HF100 are close, but the HDC-SD100 goes a few steps further with its standard accessory shoe, viewfinder and lens ring. Most amazingly, Panasonic has managed to fit all this into a tiny camcorder weighing just 382g. It’s not perfect – the Canon’s beat it for overall image quality, and at close to £700 it’s not cheap. But if you’ve been holding out for an AVCHD camcorder with the full gamut of professional features, this could be your dream come true at last.

Canon is going to launch in Japan its iVIS HF11 and iVIS HG21 digital camcorder that support the AVCHD standard. Both of them have a 3.31 Megapixel Canon Full HD CMOS image sensor, 12X optical zoom and 40x digital zoom.

The Canon iVIS HF11, replacing the HF10, has 32GB internal storage while the HG21, which is the successor of the HG10, comes with a 120GB hard drive. Both of them supports also SD and SDHC memory cards. They are powered by Canon’s DIGIC DV II video engine. HF11 and HG21 are capable in recording HD 1920×1080 videos in  MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 High Profile format. They get also a 2.7-inch LCD display.

Both camcorders  will be available in late August.

In addition to SD5, Panasonic present anther SD/SDHC recording HD camcorder, HDC-SD7. Panasonic HDC-SD7 is the world’s smallest and lightest camcorder, measuring 52×87×110mm for 290g.

Same as SD5, SD7 features 3CCD image sensor, 10x optical zoom, Advanced O.I.S image stabilizer. With the support of AVCHD, the SD7 can record videos in 1,920×1,080 resolution.

Panasonic HDC-SD7 supports SD and SDHC memory cards up to 8GB. It will be available from 8 September.

Canon introduced the new iVIS HG10, a camcorder with a 40GB hard drive. HG10 can be considered as the improved version of the HR10. The iVIS HG10 features a 2.96 Megapixel CMOS sensor, 10x optical zoom and a 2.7-inch LCD display.

HG10 supports the AVCHD standard that it can record video at Full HD 1920×1080 resolution. Other than HDD, HG10 supports also MiniSD memory cards.
