Along with the SZ-12, Olympus is launching just another ultra zoom digital camera – the SP-620UZ. Compare to the SZ-12, the SP-620UZ packs a less powerful lens in a less compact body, and that makes the latter more affordable. The 16 Megapixel shooter gets a 21x optical zoom lens with 25mm wide angle, TruePic III+ image processor, and a 3-inch LCD screen. It is the successor to the SP-610UZ.

Pentax introduces its 13th generation of rugged waterproof digital camera, the Optio WG-2 and the Optio WG-2 GPS that are the successor to the WG-1. The two new rugged cameras are adventure proof. They are not just waterproof to up to 40 feet (12 meters), but are also shockproof to withstand from drops up to 5 feets, crushproof to withstand weights up to 220 LBF (pound force), coldproof to sub-freezing temperatures of minus 10 degrees C, and dustproof to operate in dusty environments. A tough mineral crystal cover protects internal lens elements and a SP coating helps eater sheet off the optical surface.

Canon PowerShot A2400 IS Blue

Along with the A4000 IS and A3400 IS, Canon also brings the PowerShot A2400 IS and the PowerShot A2300 digital cameras. Both models are equipped with 16 Megapixel image sensor and a 5x optical zoom lens with 28mm wide angle. The A2400 IS features Optical Image Stabilizer and Intelligent IS function that automatically optimizes image stabilization, while the A2300 has Digital IS.

Nikon CoolPix S4300 Plum

Nikon is brings the new CoolPix S4300 and CoolPix S3300 cameras for consumers who are looking for a compact, stylish and fashionable camera. Both models are equipped with 14 Megapixel image sensor and a 6x optical zoom NIKKOR lens with 26mm wide angle. They feature len-shift vibration reduction to effectively reduce blur, even with shooting indoors or in dark places where camera shake often results in blurred photos, for clear, sharp photos.

In addition to the ultra zoom P510, Nikon also updates the P-series with the new CoolPix P310 compact digital camera, which is the successor to the CoolPix P300. With a compact body, the camera packs a 16.1 Megapixel Backside Illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor and a 4.2x wide angle optical zoom NIKKOR glass lens with a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture to deliver excellent low-light performance.

Olympus launches in Europe the affordable digital camera, the VG-170 featuring the “best-in-class flash”. Like its little brother VG-160, the VG-170 features 14 Megapixel image sensor, a 26mm wide angle 5x optical zoom lens and a 3-inch LCD display. The camera comes with a powerful flash, which is able to light up faces and objects up to fully 15 meters away, and provides the Long Flash Mode that will automatically adjust ISO sensitivity to make sure your camera is set up just right for low light.

Another new compact from Olympus is the VR-340 with 10x optical zoom lens with 24mm wide angle. The affordable long-zoom camera sports a 16 Megapixel CCD image sensor and a 3-inch LCD display with a wide viewing angle. The camera features Dual Image Stabilization, which combines Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization with high ISO sensitivity and fast shutter speeds to capture crisp, clear images in any situation.

Olympus will release in February the new VG-160 digital camera designed to “deliver point-and-shoot simplicity and quality at a low price”. The 14 Megapixel shooter features a 5x optical zoom lens with 26mm wide angle and a slim body measuring just 19.3mm thick. It includes AF Tracking, Shadow Adjustment Technology and Face Detection functions as well as the Intelligent Auto (iAuto) mode that automatically recognizes shooting conditions that match any of 29 built-in scene modes.

Other than the new SL-series ultra zoom bridge cameras, FujiFilm has also designed the FinePix S4500, S4400, S4300 and S4200 “for users who want maximum reach without compromising image quality or convenience”. With similar features and form factor, the S-series lacks the dual zoom control for flexible shooting feature and TTL hotshoe found on the SL models. The S4500, S4400, S4300 and S4200 all sport 14 Megapixel CCD image sensor, a 200,000 dots Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) and a 3-inch LCD display. While the SL models use rechargeable Li-ion battery, the S models use 4 AA batteries which is convenient for on-the-go digital camera users.

FujiFilm brings the FinePix Z110 compact, stylish digital camera as the successor to the FinePix Z90. Though look like FinePix Z1000EXR, the Z110 doesn’t have FujiFilm’s EXR CMOS image sensor, but a 14 Megapixel CCD sensor. It sports a Fujinon 5x optical zoom lens and a 2.7-inch LCD screen.
