You get 10 Megapixels in a relatively light and compact form factor, the option of one or two decent kit lenses, and the triple whammy of built-in anti-shake, anti-dust and Live View capabilities, not to mention easy access to a wide variety of settings. Nikon D40x DSLR Reviewed

Nikon D40x

TrustedReviews has reviewed the Nikon D40x Digital SLR. Nikon D40x features 10.75 Megapixel CCD image sensor, ISO rating up to 1600, a 2.5-inch LCD display. The D40x suports SD and SDHC memory cards.

Verdict from TrustedReviews:
In the D40x Nikon may finally have got the entry-level DSLR that can give Canon a run for its money while holding off Sony’s advance. It is, by an admittedly narrow margin, a better camera than the EOS 400D in many respects, including the crucial area of overall image quality. It is easy to use, has Nikon’s traditional fantastic build quality, and performs superbly well. If you’re looking for an SLR for under £500 the D40x should be near the top of your list.

Samsung GX-10 DSLR Reviewed

Samsung GX-10 DSLR

TrustedReviews has reviewed the Samsung GX-10 digital camera. The Samsung GX-10 is a 10.75 Megapixel DSLR with a 2.5-inch LCD display, and a SD/MMC card slot. It supports Exif 2.21 and Adobe DNG RAW.

TrustedReviews says:
The Samsung GX-10, and presumably by extension the Pentax K10D as well, proves yet again that the digital SLR market isn’t a two-horse race. This camera provides more versatility in its innovative shooting modes, more image quality in its processing engine and faster performance from its high-speed electronics than anything the competition have to offer in this class. Add the rugged durability of the weatherproof body and you have a photographic tool that any keen photographer will quickly learn to love. Just make sure you keep the body cap on when you’re not using it.

Pentax K10D DSLR Reviewed

Pentax K10D

CameraLab has reviewed the Pentax K10D DSLR. The Pentax K10D has a 10 Megapixel sensor, an image stabilizer, and a DR (Dust Removal) sensor. It supports ISO 100 to 1600, SDHC memory card. The new DSLR measures 141.5×70x101mm and weighs 710g (without lenses).

After the break is a video tour.

Verdict from CameraLab:
The Pentax K10D is certainly a feature-packed DSLR and one which offers a lot of bang for the buck at current online prices. You get 10 Megapixel resolution, built-in Shake and Dust Reduction, environmental sealing, two unique exposure modes and a wealth of RAW options which put other mid-range cameras to shame. Indeed in some respects these features elevate the K10D beyond mid-range DSLRs to compete against semi-pro models, and that’s impressive considering the price point.
Pentax K10D

The K10D isn’t however without its faults. The body may be dust and weather-resistant, but it ain’t built from magnesium alloy. The image quality using the default settings can come across as dull compared to the competition and we also felt it had a tendency to underexpose or be fooled under certain conditions. And while the Shake Reduction system proved quite effective at removing dust, it only offered modest compensation against camera-shake in our tests compared to rival systems. Speaking of which, here’s a brief look at how it compares against the nearest competition.
