Toshiba announced the SD-L912A, a new HD DVD burner for notebook PCs. The Toshiba SD-L912A can write HD DVD-R at 2x, HD DVD-RW at 1x and HD DVD-R/RW Dual Layer at 1x.

Toshiba SD-L912A  can write also DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW/R Dual Layer, DVD+R/RW/R Dual Layer and of course CD-R/RW. It has 8MB buffer and connects via ATAPI interface.

Samsung offers the SE-T084L, a Slot-in External Slim LightScribe DVD-Writer. The Samsung SE-T084L can write DVD+/-R at 8X, DVD+/-RW at 6x, DVD-RAM at 5X and CD-R/RW at 24x. Of course, the super writer can write also Dual Layer discs.
