Asus introduces a USB 3.0 external Blu-ray burner, the BW-12D1S-U with up to 12x Blu-ray writing speed. The burner uses USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface to double transmission speed compared with USB 2.0 and uses OTS technology to deliver 12x Blu-ray burning speed. It includes support for Blu-ray 3D technology.

Buffalo announced in Japan a new slim external Blu-ray burner, the BRXL-PC6U2-BK with support for high-capacity BDXL media. The BDXL is triple-layer/quad-layer Blu-ray Disc format that offers 100GB/125GB of capacity.
