Seagate shows the world the fastest 2.5-inch hard drive, Savvio 15K. The Seagate Savvio 15K is 2.5-inch hard drive with 15,000 RPM. It is “built on perpendicular magnetic recording technology (PMR)” and is available in 36GB and 73GB.

Hitachi has announced the world’s first Terabyte(TB) hard drive, the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000. The Deskstar 7K1000 has a capacity of 1TB. The Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 wil be available to consumer in the first quarter this year with a suggested retail price of $399 (USD). The Deskstat 7K1000 connects through the SATA 3.0Gb/s and PATA-133 interfaces.

Other than the Deskstar 7K1000, Hitachi shows us also the CinemaStar 7K1000 which is also a hard drive with 1TB of capacity. It has “optimized capabilities specifically designed for digital video recording (DVR) applications.” It will features:
