Hitachi CinemaStar Z7K500/Z5K500

HGST (Hitachi Global Storage Technologies), now part of Western Digital, introduces its new line of CinemaStar 2.5-inch hard drives for small form factor media PC and AV devices. The new family includes the 7mm z-height Z7K500 and Z5K500, and the budget-friendly C5K1000. All these CinemaStar hard drives feature the SmoothStream technology for efficient performance.

Hitachi announced shipping of  the new Ultrastar SSD400S.B series solid state drive, which is the industry’s first to use 25-nanometer (nm) SLC (single-level cell) NAND flash. The 2.5-inch SSD400S.B uses 6Gb/s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface to deliver high performance, and is available in 100GB, 200GB and 400GB capacities. Using SLC flash, the SSD offers up to 5x higher endurance than MLC-based SSDs.
