Magellan introduces the Maestro Elite 5340+GPRS Connected Auto Navigation Device that adds the GPRS connectivity like the Dash Express. The Maestro Elite 5340+GPRS offers real-time Google Local Search and real-time traffic information, local weather forecasts, via the integrated GPRS.

The device is powered by a S-Media 3362 533MHz processor, and has a 5-inch lare LCD display. It will be shipped in March for $1299.

Magellan Maestro 4050 has a 4.3-inch WQVGA touchscreen, and is powered by SiRF Star III GPS chipset. It offers real-time traffic alerts, “Bluetooth hands-free phone calling capabilities and advanced voiced routing directions via Magellan’s SayWhere text-to-speech function”.
Voice command and the traffic kit differentiate the 4050 from the Maestro 4040. Are they worth a $200 premium? It’s hard to say. I like Magellan’s new Maestro systems for sure, but others will soon have voice recognition, and only then will we know if Magellan’s is better or worse.
