The new 0.85-inch HDD, Toshiba delivers gigabytes of capacity packed into a tiny hard drive that fits on your fingertip. As you can see in the picture, it is as small as a coin. In fact the postage stamp sized 0.85-inch HDD was named the smallest Hard Disk Drive in the 2005 Guinness Book of Records. Only a quarter the size of a 1.8-inch hard disk drive, Toshiba’s 0.85-inch HDD will bring storage to a new generation of products including mobile phones, tiny MP3 players, digital camera, and camcorders. The rack consists of an array of 9U servers connected together via 4Gbit fiber-channel. The Tera-RamSan is configured to act as a NAS device, linking directly to an Ethernet connection, or connect to an existing fiber-channel array.

The transfer speed of the 8GB Compact Vault Drive can be up to 12MB/S. The 8GB space can hold up to 2560 JPEG images at 3MB each or 320 minutes of MPEG4 video.
