Olympus introduces new E-M5, the first model in its new OM-D (OM Digital) Series of Micro Four Thirds camera system, build upon the 40-year legacy of the OM SLR film camera series. Featuring the classic design of original OM Series, the new camera uses the modern Micro Four Thirds system. Olympus combines features found in the E-System DSLRs with those of the compact PEN Series to create a new compact, interchangeable lens camera for photographers who want both performance and portability.

Pentax announced its new K-01 interchangeable lens camera (mirrorless camera) designed by Marc Nerson who are known for designing wide range of objects from furniture and household products to bicycles, cars, aircraft and yachts. The mirrorless design K-01 is compatible with ENTAX K-mount lenses.

FujiFilm announced the X-Pro 1, its all-new premium interchangeable lens digital camera made to “deliver outstanding image quality that rivals current DSLR cameras”. The new camera packs FujiFilm’s newly developed 16 Megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS image sensor, incorporating a new filter array and Fujifilm’s EXR Processor Pro technology, “capable of delivering resolution that is parallel, if not superior, to a full frame sensor”.

Sony adds to its NEX line of compact interchangeable lens camera the new NEX-5N model housed in a rugged light magnesium alloy body measuring just 23.3mm at its slimmest point. The new 5N is equipped with a 16.1 Megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS image sensor and Sony’s BIONZ image processing engine.

Pentax introduces its Q, the world’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens camera that is pocketable and even fits in your palm. The camera uses the newly designed PENTAX Q-mount lens system for convenient interchangeability with a variety of specialty Q lenses including prime, zoom, fish-eye and more.

Panasonic officially announced its new LUMIX DMC-GF3, its smallest and lightest digital interchangeable lens camera with a built-in flash. Based on Micro Four Thirds standard, the mirror-less camera delivers “all the features desired from a traditional DSLR interchangeable lens camera” in a ultra compact, lightweight body, weighing just 7.83oz. It is 16.7% smaller and 16.2% lighter than its predecessor, the LUMIX GF2, according to Panasonic.

Panasonic expands its LUMIX G Micro System line with the new DMC-G3 Micro Four Thirds camera, follow-up to the LUMIX G2, featuring 16 Megapixel Live MOS image sensor. The new camera uses Micro Four Thirds mount and is compatible with LUMIX G lenses as well as any interchangeable lens that complies with the Four Thirds System standard via an optional mount adapter.

Samsung adds to its NX range the new NX11 mirrorless digital camera with i-Function, which is the successor to the NX10. The new NX11 is compatible with Samsung’s new i-Function lenses that were introduced for the NX100. It uses Samsung NX mount.

Panasonic introduces the LUMIX DMC-GF2, a new Digital Single Lens Micro (DSLM/DSLMicro) compact mirrorless camera that is the company’s smallest and lightest interchangeable lens system camera with built-in flash. The GF2 packs a 12.1 Megapixel Live MOS sensor that combines best of both worlds – the superb image quality of a CCD sensor, plus the lower power consumption of a CMOS sensor. It is compatible with Micro Four Thirds lenses. including the LUMIX G H-FT012 12.5mm / F12 3D interchangeable lens for taking 3D images.

Samsung announced the new NX100 mirrorless camera, which is the successor to the NX10. The new NX100 is equipped with the world’s first i-Function lens with a conveniently-located i-Function button which allows users to scroll through manual settings, and a focus ring which is used to easily change parameters for each setting. Users can toggle between shutter speed, aperture, EV, WB, and ISO quickly and easily by simply using the i-Function button and ring on the lens, meaning easier and quicker configuration while shooting.
