May the DROID be With You. Verizon Wireless and Motorola have officially the limited edition DROID R2-D2, inspired by the Star Wars. The limited edition Android handset comes with a graphic design to look like the iconic Astromech Droid from the Star Wars Saga and will be packaged in a custom box resembling carbonite.

Motorola is bringing to Europe market its new Defy, a rugged Android smartphone that is waterproof, dustproof and scratch resistant meeting the IP67 standard. It gets a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display made of Corning Gorilla Glass.

Motorola officially announced the new Milestone 2 Android smartphone, which is basically the international version of the DROID 2. Like its predecessor Milestone, the new Milestone 2 supports GSM/WCDMA 3G network instead of CDMA EVDO. The phone runs Android 2.2 OS with MOTOBLUR Enhanced and includes Flash Player 10.1 and WiFi hotspot function.

Motorola MING MT810

Motorola introduces three new MING series Android smartphones, the MT810 (Beihai) for China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA network, the XT806 (Qilin) for China Telecom’s CDMA-2000 network, and the A1680 (Lucky 3G) for China Unicom’s WCDMA network. All three models have the iconic MING flip design and the signature transparent flip cover.

Over at Chinese Android forum HiAPK.com, a posted shows us a bunch of photos of Motorola’s XT300 Android slider with QWERTY keyboard. As you can see, the XT300 has a similar design as the Palm Pre/Pre Plus, having a rounded design and a vertical sliding QWERTY keyboard.

Motorola has detailed its MOTO MING A1680 Android smartphone at its MOTODEV developer website. The A1680 is the first Motorola Ming series with Android and it is a clamshell with a transparent flip. The phone has a similar as the Ming XT806 which is intended for China Telecom, supporting CDMA network. The A1680 instead supports quad-band GSM/EDGE and WCDMA 2100 networks.
