Motorola officially announced its DROID 2 GLOBAL Android smartphone with support for CDMA 800/1900, CDMA EV-DO Rev. A 800/1900 , WCDMA 850/1900/2100, and quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks. The World Edition DROID 2, like the original DROID/Milestone and DROID 2, has a side-slide QWERTY keyboard and a 3.7-inch 480×854 capacitive touchscreen.

The limited edition Android handset comes with a graphic design to look like the iconic Astromech Droid from the Star Wars Saga and will be packaged in a custom box resembling carbonite.

Finally, Verizon officially unveils the Motorola DROID 2 Android smartphone, the successor to the successful and popular DROID. The new DROID gets a new look, which I think is less attractive than the original DROID/Milestone. The DROID 2 features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, just like the original DROID, but with a new, improved layout. It is powered by a 1GHz processor and runs the Android 2.2 and includes Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and 3G Mobile Hotspot function.

Finally, the full face of the upcoming Droid 2 has been exposed in a video hands-on by Android and Me. The new Droid 2 is the successor to the original Droid (GSM version known as Milestone). It is boosted by a 1 GHz TI OMAP3630 processor and PowerVR SGX530 graphics processor.
