Garmin-Asus nuvifone G60 GPS Smartphone

Garmin-Asus officially launches the nuvifone G60 and nuvifone M20 GPS smartphone in Taiwan market. Both phones feature Garmin’s navigation technology. The Linux-based nuvifone G60 is priced at NT$16,990 (US$516) while the Windows Mobile-based M20 costs NT$17,900 ($523).

Garmin-Asus officially reveals the detail specifications of its nuvifone G60 smartphone. Unlike the WM6-powered nuvifone M20, the nuvifone G60 does not support 3G/HSPA but only quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900. It runs Linux OS instead of Windows Mobile 6.

Garmin-Asus, alliance between Garmin and Asus, announced the nuvifone M20 ahead of the MWC 2009. The M20 is the second nuvifone model following the M60. Powered by a Qualcomm 7200A 528MHz processor, Garmin-Asus’ nuvifone M20 features a 2.8-inch 640×480 touchscreen, a 3 Megapixel auto focus camera with geo-tagging function, Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi 802.11b/g.

Garmin and Asus have partnered to create the new Garmin-Asus brand for mobile phones. Their first phone will be the nuvifone G60. Basically the nuvifone G60 is the original nuvifone introduced by Garmin.

At the CommunicAsia, Garmin showoffs its nuvifone, GPS-enable mobile phone. LaptopMag has taken some shots on it. The nuvifone features a 3.5-inch display, GPS support and multimedia playback.

Garmin announced the nuvifone, a cellphone with GPS functions. The nuvifone is a 3.5G mobile phone with HSDPA support. It has a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen for you to make phone calls or navigate easily. Like other mobile phones, the nuvifone comes with also camera, and media player.
