Pentax introduces the K-30, its new weather- and dust-proof digital SLR camera which is ideal for photographers with active outdoor lifestyles. The K-30 is compact and lightweight and comes with a weather, dust and cold resistant body featuring 81 seals set. According to Pentax, the camera is able to operate in sub-freezing temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C).

Pentax introduces its 13th generation of rugged waterproof digital camera, the Optio WG-2 and the Optio WG-2 GPS that are the successor to the WG-1. The two new rugged cameras are adventure proof. They are not just waterproof to up to 40 feet (12 meters), but are also shockproof to withstand from drops up to 5 feets, crushproof to withstand weights up to 220 LBF (pound force), coldproof to sub-freezing temperatures of minus 10 degrees C, and dustproof to operate in dusty environments. A tough mineral crystal cover protects internal lens elements and a SP coating helps eater sheet off the optical surface.

Pentax announced its new K-01 interchangeable lens camera (mirrorless camera) designed by Marc Nerson who are known for designing wide range of objects from furniture and household products to bicycles, cars, aircraft and yachts. The mirrorless design K-01 is compatible with ENTAX K-mount lenses.

Pentax has just announced in the US its all-new Optio VS20, a long zoom digital camera with a vertical shutter-release button. As the first point-and-shooter digicam to get the a second vertical shutter-release button, its second shutter button comes with zoom lever for effortless portrait oriented shooting. The 14 Megapixel S1 sports a 28mm wide angle 5x optical zoom lens, a 2.7-inch LCD display. Pentax Optio WG-1 GPS

Pentax announced two new adventure series digital cameras, the Optio WG-1 and the Optio WG-1 GPS that are waterproof, dustproof, shockproog, coldproof and crushproof, “taking adventure photography to new heights”. Two cameras are nearly identical, with the WG-1 GPS comes with GPS functionality to track and record positional data recording with images making it easy for users to check the shooting locations of captured images.

Pentax announced the new K-5 digital SLR camera for “advanced amateur photographers”. As the successor to the K-7, the new K-5 gets a CMOS image sensor with a higer 16.3 Megapixel resolution. It features 80-12800 ISO sensitivity (expandable to 51200), 11 point SAFOX IX+ autofocus system, improve in-camera HDR image capture, up to 7fps shooting and 77 segment metering system.
