Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 is the first camera to feature Sony’s 1/2.4-inch Exmor CMOS sensor technology providing burst speeds of 10fps at full 9.1 megapixel resolution. The HX1 offers 20x super zoom, 28mm wide angle, Optical SteadyShot and face detection. It is able to record 1080p Full HD video.

Looking at the market as a whole, with an emphasis on image quality, we just cannot give the Sony DSC-HX1 our highest recommendation, but it’s certainly worth consideration if you’re looking for a superzoom compact and can live with the inevitable image quality compromises.

GE’s General Imaging presents the new X3 prosumer digital camera with 12x optical zoom. The GE X3 is a 12 Megapixel camera witha 12x optical zoom lens, 4.5x digital zoom and a 2.7-inch LCD screen. It features Face Detection, Blink detection, Smile Detection, Auto Scene detection, optical image stabilization and red-eye removal functions.

Kodak debuts its new EasyShare Z915 digital camera at the PMA 2009. The EasyShare Z915 is a prosumer level camera with a 10 Megapixel image sensor and a 10x optical zoom lens.

Sony announced at the PMA 2009 its new DPP-FP97 and DPP-FP67 portable photo printers. They print 4×6-inch photos in about 45 and 63 seconds respectively. Both printers support Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick PRO Duo, SD, SDHC, MMC and xD memory cards.

Casio introduces at the PMA 2009 the latest model of its EXILIM line, the EXILIM Zoom EX-Z29 compact digital camera. The EX-Z29 is a 10.1 Meapixel camera with 3x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom, ISO up to 1600, Anti-Shake DSP image stabilization and Face Detection technology.

Pentax is going to announce the new X70 prosumer level digital camera the the PMA 2009. Ths X70 is a 12 Megapixel digital camera featuring a 24x optical zoom lens with wide-angle. It has high-speed shooting mode that takes up to 11 photos per second.

In addition to PowerShot SD series, Canon expands its PowerShot A series by introducing PowerShot A2100 IS, A1100 IS and A480 digital cameras, that serve as upgrades to A2000, A1000 and A470.

In additiont to the SD970 IS and SD960 IS, Canon presents two more SD series models, the PowerShot SD780 IS and SD1200 IS.

The PowerShot SD780 IS is a fashionanle ELPH camera which has a ultra slim, modern look and will be available in Black, Red, Silver and Gold. SD780 IS is a 12.1 Megapixle camera with 3x optical zoom. It can record 1280×720p video clips and has integrated HDMI connector. Blink Detection is also included.

Canon is going to launch its new PowerShot SD970 IS and SD960 IS digital ELPH cameras. These two new cameras have 12.1 Megapixel CCD image sensor, optical image stabilization, DIGIC4 image processor, face detection, Smart Auto, and blink detection.
