Pentax X70 is a prosumer ultra zoom digital camera with a 24x optical zoom lens. It has a 12 Megapixel image sensor and offers 50-6400 ISO. The camera has a high-speed shooting mode that takes up to 11 photos per second and is able to record 720p HD video clips. The camera has a 2.7-inch LCD screen.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 is the first camera to feature Sony’s 1/2.4-inch Exmor CMOS sensor technology providing burst speeds of 10fps at full 9.1 megapixel resolution. The HX1 offers 20x super zoom, 28mm wide angle, Optical SteadyShot and face detection. It is able to record 1080p Full HD video.

Looking at the market as a whole, with an emphasis on image quality, we just cannot give the Sony DSC-HX1 our highest recommendation, but it’s certainly worth consideration if you’re looking for a superzoom compact and can live with the inevitable image quality compromises.

Samaung presents at the PMA 2009 its new prosumer level NX Series “Hybrid” digital cameras. Basically, the NX Series are digital cameras with APS-C sized image sensor, which supposed to be found on DSLR cameras. With the APS-C sensor, Samsung’s Hybrid cameras have a larger surface area to gather light and produce higher-quality images.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 is a prosumer level digital camera with 18x optical zoom. The 10 Megapixel FZ28 features also 4x digital zoom, ISO up to 6400, Red-eye reduction, and the Venus Engines IV image processor and the iA technology that offers Intelligent Exposure, Digital Red-eye Correction, MEGA O.I.S.,  Intelligent ISO, Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Detection and Quick AF.
