Verizon Wireless launched the LG Englighten mid-range, affordable Android smartphone. The new phone comes with a 3.2-inch 320×480 touchscreen, a sliding full QWERTY keyboard with large keys for easy typing, and a 3.2 Megapixel with auto focus and video recording. The Enlighten is powered by a 800MHz processor and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS with support for Adobe Flash 10.

Vodafone UK launches its Vodafone 555 Facebook mobile phone with a bar-type form factor and QWERTY keyboard. Like HTC’s ChaCha and Salsa, the 555 has a dedicated Facebook button that lets you access Facebook directly and it streams news feeds directly to your homescreen.

T-Mobile launches the myTouch 4G Slide Android smartphone, produced by HTC. This new Android device has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense 3.0 on Qualcomm’s dual-core SnapDragon MSM8260 1.2GHz processor, the phone supports T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 4G network.

Other than the Torch 9850 and 9860, RIM has another new Torch, the BlackBerry 9810 with a slider form factor. As the follow-up to the 9800, the new model looks just the same but packs upgraded hardware. The 9810 runs the next gen BlackBerry 7 OS on a 1.2GHZ processor and 768MB of RAM. Other than the slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the phone also offers on-screen keyboard. It has a 3.2-inch 640×480 touchscreen, and a trackpad below the screen.

Research In Motion (RIM) refresh its Bold series with the new 9900 and 9930 models. The new 9900 series is the thinnest BlackBerry smartphone yet measuing just just 10.5mm thick. The new Bold comes with QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen and is equipped with support for NFC (Near Field Communications). The new phones run BlackBerry OS 7.

Motorola introduces a new bar-type QWERTY Android smartphone, the Motorola FIRE XT316. Looks a bit like the Palm Pixi/Pixi Plus, the FIRE has a 4-row QWERTY keyboard and a 2.8-inch touchscreen to provide the perfect combination of tools for emailing, texting and browsing the Web. The phone runs Android OS and includes  the Moto Switch user interface, which allows users to switch to a friends-centric mode when they finish work and head home for the day.

Verizon announced the next generation DROID smartphone, the new DROID 3 by Motorola featuring a side-slide full QWERTY keyboard. While its predecessor DROID/Milestone and DROID 2/Milestone 2 come with a 4-row keyboard, the new DROID 3 has a 5-row keyboard, adding a dedicated row for numbers. It is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM and runs Android 2.3 OS.

The txt pro is the sister of Sony Ericsson’s txt QWERTY phone. Instead of candy-bar form factor, the txt pro is a side-slider with sliding QWERTY keyboard for quick text input.
