Sprint, Samsung and Google have partnered to bring the Nexus S 4G Android smartphone to the carrier’s WiMax 4G mobile network. This 4G version of Nexus S supports Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network, with peak download speeds of more than 10 Mbps; peak upload speeds of 1 Mbps; average download speeds of 3-6 Mbps, and CDMA EVDO Rev. A 3G network.

Google Nexus S by Samsung Android 2.3 Smartphone front back

Google and Samsung officially announce the Nexus S, their Android collaboration, which is the second Android phone released by Google, following the Nexus One by HTC. The Nexus S, as its name suggests, is pretty much based on Samsung’s own Galaxy S smartphone. Most notable new features include a 4-inch Contour display with curved glass screen, capacitive touch sensor and anti-fingerprint display coating; built-in Near Field Communication (NFC) connectivity and the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

Samsung Nexus S and Gingerbread 2.3 in the wild home

XDA Developers has posted a bunch of pictures of the rumored Samsung Nexus S running the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. Pictures show a curved and thin device. It is powered by dual core Samsung Orion 1Ghz Cortex A9 processor, 512MB of RAM and 1GB or 2GB internal storage.

Google Nexus S

It is not the first time we saw rumors of a Samsung’s made Nexus Two Android phone for Google, but now we are seeing more evidents. The name “Nexus S” is first reveled at Best Buy Mobile’s web-based flier indicating the Nexus S for T-Mobile will be available this holiday season. The Nexus S, successor to the HTC-made Nexus One, will run the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
