Canon brings a new rugged digital camera, the PowerShot D20 built for active photographers, which is the successor to the D10. The new D20 is waterproof to 33 feet (10 meters), shockproof to withstand up to 5.0 feet (1.5 meter) drop, temperature-resistant from 14°F to 104°F, and dustproof. It sports 12.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4 image processor, and features HS SYSTEM for enhanced low-light shooting performance.

Nikon’s new CoolPix S30 is a rugged compact digital camera targeted at families. The new camera is shock resistant to withstand falls from heights of up to 80 cm; dust resistant; and waterproof up to three-meters. With the S30, parents can preserve priceless memories of their babies easily. It has three large buttons, movie-record, shutter release and power, at the top and four flexible buttons on the back of the camera for adjusting and applying camera settings easily.

Olympus is launching a new rugged digital camera, the TOUGH TG-320, for active consumers. Designed to take hard knocks of everyday life, the camera is waterproof to 10 feet, shockproof to withstand five-foot drops to the hard ground, freezeproof to operate in freezing snowstorms (to 14 degrees Fahrenheit), and dustproof.

FujiFilm FinePix XP150

FujiFilm is launching three new rugged digital cameras, the FinePix XP150, XP100 and XP50 for active users to take photos in the most demanding shooting conditions. These cameras provid Four-Way Protection. The XP150 and XP100 are Waterproof to 33ft (10M) and Shockproof to 6.5 ft (2M) while the XP50 is Waterproof to 16.5ft (5M) and Shockproof to 5 ft (1.5M). All three models are Freezeproof to 14°F (-10°C) and Dustproof.

SeaLife is going to launch in March its Mini II Dive and Sport Camera that is compact, rugged and easy to use. Readu for adventure, the Mini II is depth tested waterproof to 130 feet, rubber armored for a sure grip and shockproof tested up to 6ft/2m. It is ideal for Scuba divers, snorkelers, boaters, hikers, paddlers and any fun-seeking adventurer.

Ricoh launches its all-new G700 rugged digital camera, created for demanding professionals, that is IPX8 water-, dust-, and shock- resistant and is also chemical resistant. The 12.1 Megapixel G700 features a 5x optical zoom lens with 28mm wide angle, 1cm macro, 3-inch LCD display and a SD/SDHC card slot with SD WORM (write once read many) card support.

Panasonic announced the all-new LUMIX DMC-TS10 (aka DMC-FT10) rugged compact digital camera, an affordable alternative to the TS2. As the latest member of the rugged TS-Series, the TS10/FT10 is, in fact, not as rugged as the Lumix TS2. It is waterproof to 10 feet (33 feet on TS2), shockproof to 5 feet (10 feet on TS2), dust proof and freezeproof to 14-degree F. To further the protection, the TS10 comes with silicone jacket to help prevent scratches.

Pentax announced the new waterproof Optio W90 digital camera. In fact, the W90 is four-proof offering enhanced waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, and coldproof performance. It features Digital Microscope mode with LED lighting to capture small but intriguing subjects.

Sony announced the new Cyber-Shot DSC-TX5, the world’s thinnest and smallest waterproof digital camera. The ultra tough camera that is waterproof up to 10 feet of water for an hour and is also certified to be freeze proof down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit, shockproof up to about a 5-foot drop and dust proof.

Olympus STYLUS TOUGH-6020 Blue

Olympus introduces STYLUS TOUGH-8010 and TOUGH-6020, two new ultra rugged digital cameras. Like the new FujiFilm XP10, these cameras are ‘four-proof’ -  Shockproof, Waterproof, Crushproof and Freezeproof. They both have 14 Megapixel sensor, 28mm wide angle lens with 5x optical zoom and 2.7-inch LCD screen.
