Sony introduces the HDR-TG5 Handycam smallest Full HD camcorder, the successor of the HDR-TG1 (aka TG3E). Sony HDR-TG5 can capture 1920×1080p Full HD video and 4 Megapixel photos. It has a Carl Zeiss Vaio-Tessar lens with 10X optical zoom and a 2.7-inch touchscreen display.

Sony launches the new Webbie HD (model: MHS-CM1) digital camcorder, which is available in Silver, Orange and Purple. The Webbie HD features a 5 Megapixel CMOS image sensor, 5x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom.

Sony’s Webbie HD MHS-CM1 has a 2.5-inch LCD screen. It can record 1440×1080, 1280×720 and 640×480 movies at 30gps in MPEG4 AVC/H.274 format. The campact camcorder has built-in stereo microphone.

Other than hard drive SD and HD camcorders, Sony is also launching its new flash-based Handycam models, HDR-CX100, DCR-SX60, DCR-SX41 and DCR-SX40.

Sony announced four new Full HD 1080p Handycam camcorders, including HDR-XR520V, HDR-XR500V, HDR-XR200V and HDR-XR100.

The Handycam HDR-XR520V and HDR-XR500V both feature a back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor offering twice the sensitivity compare to previous models. They have Sony’s G lens,  high-speed BIONZ imaging processor, and Optical Steady Shot stabilization. HDR-XR520V and HDR-XR500V come with 240GB and 120GB hard dirve respectively.

Sony brings to the CES 2009 its new DCR-DVD850 and DCR-DVD650 Handycam DVD camcorders. Both DVD camcorders feature 1/8-inch 680K-pixel CCD imagersCarl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lenses, and 60X optical zoom. They can does video recording to 3-inch DVD discs.

Sony introduces the new HVR-HD1000U Camcorder that supports both HDV and Standard DV formats. Sony HVR-HD1000U features 6.1 Megapixel ClearVid CMOS image sensor, Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonner T lens with10x optical zoom.
