May the DROID be With You. Verizon Wireless and Motorola have officially the limited edition DROID R2-D2, inspired by the Star Wars. The limited edition Android handset comes with a graphic design to look like the iconic Astromech Droid from the Star Wars Saga and will be packaged in a custom box resembling carbonite.

Verizon Wireless and Motorola will release the DROID 2 R2-D2 STAR WARS Empire Strikes Back Special Edition smartphone on 30 September, as the poster above shown. This special edition DROID 2 has a R2-D2-inspired casing.

Finally, Verizon officially unveils the Motorola DROID 2 Android smartphone, the successor to the successful and popular DROID. The new DROID gets a new look, which I think is less attractive than the original DROID/Milestone. The DROID 2 features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, just like the original DROID, but with a new, improved layout. It is powered by a 1GHz processor and runs the Android 2.2 and includes Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and 3G Mobile Hotspot function.
