Samsung announced the new Soul cellphone, which is a new addition to the Ultra Edition linup. Soul, is acutally the abbreviation  ”The Spirit Of Ultra”.

Samsung’s Soul is a Quad-band GSM phone with HSDPA 7.2Mbps support. It features a 2.2-inch LCD screen with 16M colors, a 5 Megapixel camera, integrated media player that can play MP3, WMA music, FM tuner and a microSD card slot.

The 5 Megapixel camera the phone has actually comes with 4x digital zoom, Face detection and image stabilizer. The phone will come with a new UI.

Here is a hands-on video on the Samsung U700, the Ultra Edition II 12.1ultra slim slider phone. The Samsung U700 is a tri-band GSM/3G phone with EDGE and 3.5G HSDPA 3.6 Mbps.

It has a 3 Megapixel camera with Auto focus, a secondary VGA camera for video calls, a 2.2-inch 260k color TFT LCD display, built-in media player supporting MP3/ACC/eAAC+/WMA/WMDRM music as well as MPEG4/H.263/Real video formats.

The Ultra Edition 2 9.6 (aka U300) is the ultra-slim clamshell phone in the Ultra Edition II series. It is as thin as 9.6mm.

The Samsung Ultra Edition 9.6 (U300) is a Tri-band phone with EDGE and GPRS. The phone features a 3 Megapixel camera, a 2.2-inch 240×320 260k color TFT LCD display, an OLED secondary screen, integrated media player supporting MP3/ACC/eAAC+/WMA/WMDRM music and MPEG4/H.263 video.

Ultra Edition 9.6 features also Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 high-speed connectivity, Document Viewer, Smart Search, BT Printing , uGo, TV Out and 70MB internal memory.

The Samsung Ultra Edition 2 12.1 (U700) is another ultra-slim (12.1mm thick) slider phone in the Ultra Edition 2 series. The Ultra Edition 2 12.1 (aka U700) is a tri-band GSM/3G phone with EDGE and 3.5G HSDPA 3.6 Mbps.

The Ultra Edition 10.9 is Yahoo Ready and features Business Card Recognition. It measures 103.2 x 49.3 x 10.9 mm. “The Ultra Edition II will be released in the European Market in the first quarter of this year.” One more picture after the jump.

Samsung likes to break record. We have seen the Trace SGH-T519, SGH-A727, SGH-X820 ultra slim phones, but Samsung say they are not thin enough and thus Samsung shows us its Ultra Edition 5.9 (there are no official name yet) which is as thin as 5.9mm. In the thin body, the Samsung Ultra 5.9 has a 3 Megapixel (Amazing!), Media player, Bluetooth and 80MB of internal memory.

It is expected to hit the market in March this year.
