Zoom launches the new H2n Handy Recorder, which is the only portable voice recorder with five mic capsules onboard. With five mics, the H2N offers four unique recording modes: Mid-Side (MS) stereo, 90° X/Y stereo, 2-channel and 4-channel surround sound. It is the first handheld recorder to feature Mid-Side stereo recording, a technique used for many years in film and broadcast, where ambiance and surrounding noise are crucial. Mid-Side recording combines a uni-directional Mid mic that captures sound directly in front of you and a bi-directional Side mic that captures sound from your left and right.

Olympus Directrec DR-1200

Olympus announced in the US three new Directrec dictation devices, the DR-1200, DR-2200 and DR-2300, offering “the perfect combination of great audio reproduction, programmability and ease-of-use in a professional recorder”. For easy dictating, the DR-2200 and DR-2300 feature strategically placed slide switch and the DR-1200 comes with a push button. They feature a durable trackball for more intuitive, one-handed operation, and a new low-noise directional microphone that reduces extraneous sounds and unwanted background noise for high-quality sound recording.

Olympus introduces a new pocket device that combines Full HD video recorder with PCM audio recorder. The “dual recorder” records and edit 1080p Full HD video and 24 bit/96 hHz Linear PCM stereo sound. It features a 4.1mm auto focus lens and 4x digital zoom; and two condenser mics for capturing rich, dynamic sound.

Sony ICD-SX712D

Sony expands its line of digital voice recorders with three new models, the ICD-SX712D, ICD-UX512 and ICD-PX312. All these recorders have 2GB built-in memory, a microSD/M2 card slot and have USB port for PC connection. They include Intelligent Noise Cut function and the ICD-SX712D and ICD-UX512 feature S-Microphone System for high sensitivity with less noise. PX312 comes with a mono microphone.
