AT&T is going to release on 15 May the HP Veer 4G smartphone. At the size of a credit card and no thicker than a deck of cards, the  HP Veer is the smallest full-featured webOS smartphone. The Veer 4G, as its name indicated, supports tri-band UMTS 3G, HSDPA Cat 10/HSUPA Cat 6 4G as well as quad-band GSM/EDGE networks.

Other than the new Pre 3, HP also introduces the Veer, the smallest webOS smartphone to date. With a slide-out keyboard, the compact phone is about the size of a credit card and no thicker than a deck of cards. It measures just 54.5 mm x 84.0 mm x 15.1 mm and is only 103 grams. One special thing about the Veer is that it doesn’t have dedicated micro USB port and 3.5mm jack, instead it has a 5-pin magnetic connector for attaching charging adapter and 3.5mm jack adapter.

HP has announced the new Pre 3 smartphone running webOS, which is a multitasking professional workhorse that’s perfectly balanced for speed and serious fun. Like the Pre, Pre Plus and the Pre 2, the Pre 3 with the HP branding comes with a sliding QWERTY keyboard and it also gets a large 3.58-inch 480×800 WVGA touchscreen. It sports a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash flash and 720p HD video recording and a front VGA camera for video call.

Palm announced the Pre Plus and the Pixi Plus webOS smartphones for Verizon Wireless, which are based on the original Pre and Pixi respectively. Both phones have a QWERTY keyboard and a gesture area.

Palm officially announced its second webOS-based smartphone, the Pixi (aka Eos previously) following the Palm Pre. The Pixi is a slim smartphone with a visible full keyboard. It will be available from Sprint in holiday season.

As we have previously reported, Palm is going to release later the second webOS-based phone, the Palm Eos. Now we can confirm that AT&T is planning to offer the phone in second half 2009, as indicated on AT&T’s internal slide.
